Paris is one of my favorite cities in France (and in all of Europe!). This post is for you if you want to learn where to stay while on vacation in Paris, France.

No matter if you’re interested in history, culture, museums, gastronomy, or the classic romantic trip, Paris is a terrific location for all travelers.

Prepare to be astonished, then!

In this article, I’ve chosen the top 8 areas in Paris and provided you with my hand-picked hotel picks for each one, all arranged by price range.

I spent a year living in the city, which allowed me to learn a lot about it and get to know its neighborhoods extremely well.

Just remember to reserve your lodgings far in advance (especially if traveling in the summer), since you don’t want to wait until the last minute to visit this wonderful city!

When You Are In Hurry

If you’re traveling to Paris for the first time, the 7th arrondissement, where the Eiffel Tower is located, is the best area to stay.

This is the best place to stay if you want to be close to Paris’s top attraction while still having access to a wide variety of delectable restaurants, exciting bars, and appealing cafés.

Best Area To Stay In Paris

Paris is divided into 20 distinct “arrondissements,” or neighborhoods. The neighborhoods are numbered spiral-style, moving outward from the city’s center to its edges.

The island known as “Ile de la Cité” and the first arrondissement, which houses Notre-Dame Cathedral, is considered to be the city’s heart.

The neighborhoods closest to the city’s heart are designated by lower numbers (1st to 12th), and starting with the 12th arrondissement, you’ll find the farther-flung, outside districts.

Now let’s move to the best area to stay in Paris.

  • The Eiffel Tower / 7th arrondissement – Who are visiting first time
  • Le Louvre / 1st arrondissement – for luxury
  • Champs-Elysées / 8th arrondissement – for shopping
  • Le Marais – for history lovers
  • Montmartre – romantic area
  • Saint-Germain-des-Pres / 6th arrondissement – for nightlife
  • Montparnasse (14th arrondissement) – the local area
  • Latin Quarter / 5th Arrondissement – for budget travelers

Each area in Paris has its own atmosphere and appearance, so if you’re looking for the greatest arrondissement to stay in, you should know that you should pick your favorite based on your personal preferences.

For your convenience, I’ve listed my top 8 neighborhood picks (in descending order of popularity) along with fantastic hotels for each of them:

The Eiffel Tower

This is the first entrance in the list of best area to stay in Paris. The famed Eiffel Tower is located in Paris’s 7th arrondissement. This is a lovely residential area with many exquisite and luxurious hotels, but not only that—some of them even have windows with breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower, a famous landmark in Paris!

If you’re visiting the city for the first time and want to stay in a real Parisian neighborhood, this is one of the greatest places to stay because there are so many upscale restaurants and delectable bakeries around.

Please be aware that, surprisingly, there isn’t much of a nightlife there in the evening, so if you’re looking for a place to go out for a drink, I suggest looking towards Le Marais instead.

Actually, the 7th arrondissement is peaceful at night. Being one of Paris’s most sought-after neighborhoods (and with good reason).

The majority of these suggestions are hotels with views of the Eiffel Tower, so pick your favorite carefully and be sure to reserve them well in advance because there will be many other people there.

Le Louvre

Le Louvre is another good addition in the list of best area to stay in Paris. This area is referred to as “Le premier” in Paris, which means “the first.”

The first arrondissement of Paris is, as I stated at the beginning of this post, the exact center of the city; therefore, if you want to be in the heart of the city of love, this should be your pick.

On the right bank of the Seine River, in a section of Paris known as the “Louvre,” is one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods.

The Louvre Museum and the Tuileries Gardens are the principal attractions of this district, which is also one of the smallest in all of Paris.

This area is perfect if you’re looking for accommodations in Paris that are close to everything.

Champs-Elysées

This place is also a good addition in the list of best area to stay in Paris. Along with shopping, this region is fantastic if you’re seeking for upmarket lodging because there are many of them near the well-known avenue.

On the right bank of the Seine River, this arrondissement is home to a number of upscale eateries and upscale cafes where you can enjoy the view while sipping coffee.

Arc de Triomphe, the Grand Palace, and Place de la Concorde are a few additional well-known and not-to-be-missed locations close by; be sure to include these on your schedule as well!

  • Luxury Area (300€ and up)

Le Marais

Another best area to stay in Paris is Le Marais. Le Marais is a historical district, and because of its amazing streets and stunning structures that maintain the passage of time, it is undoubtedly my favorite neighborhood in Paris.

It is frequently referred to as Paris’ Jewish district. This is, in my opinion, the best area of Paris to stay in for a variety of reasons.

If you want to be surrounded by stunning art galleries, incredible restaurants, and designer shops, Le Marais is a terrific spot to stay.

The Musée Picasso, Place des Vosges, and Notre Dame Cathedral are a few of the most well-known attractions in this region.

Similar to the other well-known locations of Paris, there is a strong demand for lodging, so if you discover something you like, you should book it as soon as you can because rates are always going up. My list of suggested hotels in Le Marais is as follows:

  • Luxury Area (300€ and up)

Le Pavillon de la Reine & Spa

Hotel Dupond-Smith

  • Mid-range Area (130€ – 300€)

Hotel Bastille Speria

Les Tournelles

  • In Budget Area (up to 180€)

Moris Grands Boulevards

Paris France Hotel

Montmartre

This is another one of the best area to stay in Paris. One of Paris’ most renowned and beautiful outlying areas is Montmartre (18th arrondissement), which is also its most romantic region. The white Sacré-Coeur Cathedral, one of Paris’ most recognisable buildings, stands atop the 130-meter-high Montmartre hill.

The mood in this location is a little different because Montmartre used to be a distinct neighborhood from Paris town where many creative and underprivileged artists lived!

At the end of the 19th century, many well-known painters stayed and worked there in their own studios, including Pablo Picasso, Renoir, and Edgar Degas.

Since I spent a significant amount of time in the neighborhood (near the Moulin Rouge), I can highly suggest it if you don’t mind riding the metro to the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. The metro in Paris has excellent connections, so you can quickly reach any significant location! This is the greatest area to stay in if you wish to be above Paris and surrounded by little, lovely lanes with colorful homes.

Although Montmartre is technically in the 18th arrondissement, you can instead look for lodging in the 9th district (Opera and South Pigalle), which is nearby and has essentially the same amenities.

  • Luxury Area (300€ and up)

Maison Souquet

  • Mid-range Area (130€ – 300€)

Be You Luxury Apart’Hotel – Le Canard Dore

Mom’Art Hotel & Spa

  • In Budget Area (up to 180€)

Odalys City Paris Montmartre

Hôtel de Flore

Saint-Germain-des-Prés

The 6th arrondissement of Paris, often known as Saint-Germain, is unquestionably one of the greatest areas for this if you’re the type of person who enjoys having fun and wants to be close to the action.

There are numerous upscale cafes, restaurants, and bars in this area, and the nightlife is thriving. If this is what you’re looking for, rent a room at Saint-Germain-des-Pres because everything there is incredibly vibrant.

By the way, you can also check out these areas if you’re seeking for some other fantastic venues for nightlife:

  • The 11th Arrondissement, often known as Popincourt, is a highly lively and exciting part of the city that is close to Place de la Bastille. This is a good benefit because Le Marais is close to Place de la Bastille.
  • Gobelins in the 13th arrondissement, close to Place d’Italie. It is a really vibrant area that is ideal for tourists looking for exciting stuff as well as art enthusiasts!

Here are some of our best picks:

  • Luxury Area (300€ and up)

Hôtel D’Aubusson

Millésime Hôtel

  • Mid-range Area (130€ – 300€)

Best Western Aramis Saint Germain

Montparnasse

This is the second last place in the list of best area to stay in Paris. The 14th arrondissement, often known as the Montparnasse, is a great choice if you want to live like a local and be close to all the important places and attractions in Paris.

You can truly enjoy living like a Parisian at Montparnasse, a picturesque neighborhood on the left bank of the Seine River that is full of nice restaurants and cafes.

It will be nearly difficult to be bored around here because there are so many museums and art galleries around!

  • Luxury Area (300€ and up)

Novotel Suites Paris Expo Porte de Versailles

BoB Hotel by Elegancia

  • Mid-range Area (130€ – 300€)

Hôtel Aiglon

Hôtel Orchidée

  • In Budget Area (up to 180€)

Hôtel Transcontinental

Hôtel Du Lion

Latin Quarter

This is the last important and great addition to the list of best area to stay in Paris. The Latin Quarter/Fifth arrondissement may be your best option if you don’t want to be in the middle of the action but yet seek convenience.

While still being close to all the major attractions, like those in the first arrondissement, this area has a more relaxed vibe.

I wholeheartedly urge everyone who wants to experience some real Parisian feelings to visit this area!

You can stroll around the wonderful streets while you’re here, sip wine in a wine bar, or simply take in the stunning architecture.

The hotels here are frequently a little less expensive than in other parts of Paris because it is a little more laid back and a little more local, which is always a plus for budget visitors!

  • Luxury Area (300€ and up)

Hotel Monge

Hôtel Montecristo

  • Mid-range Area (130€ – 300€)

Hôtel des Grands Hommes

Hôtel Oratio

  • In Budget Area (up to 180€)

Hotel Le M Saint Germain
